Mrs Kylie Hetherington
Hi! My name is Kylie Hetherington and I will be teaching English to Years 7, 10, 11 and 12 in 2023.
It has been a blessing to come to Shellharbour Anglican College to progress my teaching career. I have always taught in faith-based education as I believe that Jesus Our Saviour is our hope and our joy. It such an exciting time at Shellharbour Anglican College to join the college during a time of growth. I am looking forward to the future grace of our Lord for the students and family of the college.
I previously lived in the Shoalhaven for over a decade. During my first week of driving home, with the tumultuous storm clouds and the golden sun setting over the hills at Kiama, I was reminded that the coast and mountains of the South coast are spectacular.
Over the Summer Break, I spent a week horse riding in the High Country in Victoria. It was awesome to spend time away from technology and slow down in God’s creation. I also love vegetable gardening, spinning natural fibres and knitting.
I have been teaching for sixteen years now. Prior to teaching I worked in the Central West of New South Wales in logistics and procurement management for mining and agricultural companies.
The most satisfying aspect of English in senior school is the capacity to exercise our moral imagination and explore God’s world with the unique insight and compassion found in literature. To find “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—[whatever is] excellent or praiseworthy [and to] think about such things” (Phil 4:9) in films, picture books, poetry and novels.
I am most eagerly waiting to meet the young people and families I will partner with during the year.
