The Learning Hub offers learning support where students may need extra support for literacy, numeracy or other learning challenges. The Learning Support team use teacher and parent identified criteria to determine if a student would benefit from a tiered learning support program. This could be 1:1 intervention, small group withdrawal from class, or in class assistance. The Macquarie University MultiLit, MiniLit and MacLit programs are an integral part of Learning Support.
The Learning Hub also offers support for students who are eligible for our Feuerstein Program. This is a cognitive intervention program centering around the science of neuroplasticity. It strengthens the thinking and reasoning functions of the brain through a range of Cognitive Instruments and Mediated Learning Experiences. The program has also expanded to include Prep students in 2020.
For students who would benefit from extension and individualised enrichment programs the Learning Hub offers assistance in both specialised programs and in class assistance. Learning Support staff work with the class teacher to design appropriate extension and enrichment learning that is appropriate for the student, in consultation with the parents/carers.
