The Shellharbour Anglican College Mathematics Olym

The Shellharbour Anglican College Mathematics Olympiad team once again secured a position in the top 10% of participants in the annual Australasian Problem Solving Mathematics Olympiad competition. Amongst the 1600 teams competing, our students stood out, claiming the 42nd spot. Remarkably, Nathan and Alice, attained flawless scores, joining an elite group of only 227 students out of the 35,000 contenders.

This marks the College's second consecutive year of achieving both a top 10% ranking and producing two students with perfect scores.

At Shellharbour Anglican College, our students had the opportunity to bring joy to children in need worldwide through Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan's Purse initiative. This involved packing shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and other enjoyable gifts. Students have actively participated by collecting gifts and donating money for postage, ensuring these boxes reach children in vulnerable situations, such as those affected by war in regions like Ukraine. The overarching mission of Operation Christmas Child is to express God's love in a tangible manner to underprivileged children globally and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Today commemorates the Armistice that brought an end to the conflict with Germany during World War I. As we collectively pay our respects to those who have bravely served in defence of Australia, our students will gather together on Monday to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of Remembrance Day. They will take the time to pause for a moment of silence, reflecting on the sacrifices made by our soldiers in service to our nation.

We will remember them.
